Hot Air Airship
This hot air air ship gondola is a Cameron hot air balloon system originally purchased by David Rapp in 1984 for $85,000. Its maximum speed is 15 miles per hour. A small electric fan keeps the balloon filled with air so that the burner does not run out of oxygen. A rope on either side of the cockpit is used to turn the rudder to steer the craft left or right.
The first picture below shows the gondola attached to the envelope. The second picture shows the air ship in flight.
In the picture below David Rapp is shown sitting in the gondola. The 15,000,000 BTU burner can be seen mounted on top of the gondola. Most of the burner controls are mounted overhead.
